what is “dirty”?
I want to talk about soap, but in order to do this, I had to determine why we needed it. First off, It’s surprisingly difficult to come up with a connotation-free title for a blog about what it means to be soiled, dirty, filthy…see what I mean? It is equally hard to try and research this subject online without being redirected into the seedier regions of the web. With that said, the answer turned out to be quite simple. You are filthy. Your body is dirty. Your hands are nasty. No offense. So am I! It’s easy to realize you’re grimy when you can physically see the caked on crud but even when you appear clean, the truth is, you’re not. Your hands are the biggest culprits to this germ invasion. Anytime you touch anything, you are both picking up and putting down germs. The germs have little “legs” that can cling to the oils on your skin. These natural oils keep the germs stuck onto your skin for hours. Your fingertips alone can be covered in 2 to 10 million bacteria in any given time. In fact, nearly 80% of illness-causing germs are spread by your hands. The only way to fight back is by removing the germs or by killing them. And that’s why soap and sanitizer should be your best friend.
Tune in next week when I ask the question: “What is a soap?”
